Dr Deepthi Murali

Dr. Deepthi Murali is the producer of PhD Futures Now! podcast. She is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (RRCHNM) at George Mason University.

Deepthi received her PhD in Art History from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Her research centers on transcultural art objects, encounters, and artistic practices in littoral South India in the 18th and 19th centuries. Her current work includes incorporating big data into the study of transcultural decorative arts objects. You can find more information on her research on her website.

At RRCHNM, Deepthi works on a number of digital history and art history projects including producing the US History podcast Consolation Prize and managing a new HCAC Consortium project for the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Deepthi is a big believer in the medium of podcasts and thinking about podcasting and other audiovisual media as a way to practice public-facing humanities.
